Washington County Locations Added to Walk-In Wednesdays for
Heating Assistance Applications

Ellsworth, Maine — As heating oil prices continue to rise and households face the highest
home energy costs of the season, Community Action in Aroostook, Washington and
Hancock Counties (CAAWHC) is urging residents to apply for heating assistance as soon as
possible if they have not already done so.
CAAWHC is pleased to announce that Washington County locations have now been
added to Walk-In Wednesdays, making it even easier for residents to get help.
Community members may now walk in without an appointment on Wednesdays at the
following Washington County sites:
• Beth C. Wright Cancer Resource Center
163 Main Street, Baileyville
• Machias Town Office
17 Stackpole Drive, Machias
Walk-In Wednesdays run every Wednesday through May 27, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Walk-in services are also available at CAAWHC Customer Service Centers in Madawaska,
Presque Isle, Houlton, and Ellsworth during the same hours.
“Waiting to apply can mean higher out-of-pocket heating costs during the most expensive
part of the season,” said Kelli Casey, Program Coordinator. “These new Washington County
locations help ensure more households can access assistance when they need it most.”

For those who cannot visit during Walk-In Wednesdays, applications may also be
completed by phone with an Intake Specialist at 207-764-3721, Ext. 1, or online.
Applications are being accepted through May 29, but applying early is strongly
encouraged.
Individuals planning to attend Walk-In Wednesdays are encouraged to review the list of
helpful paperwork to bring by visiting www.acap-me.org.
