GFKCC Scholarship Application 2026

The Greater Fort Kent Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to offer two $500 scholarships to local students pursuing higher education at the University of Maine at Fort Kent. This scholarship recognizes students who value community, understand the importance of local small businesses, and plan to continue their education right here in the St. John Valley.

Applications are now open. The deadline to apply is April 30, 2026.

Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible, applicants must be a graduating high school senior from one of the following schools in the Greater Fort Kent Chamber area:

Fort Kent Community High School, Wisdom High School, or Ashland High School

Applicants must plan to attend the University of Maine at Fort Kent (UMFK). Priority consideration will be given to children of Greater Fort Kent Area Chamber of Commerce member business owners or employees, and to employees of a Greater Fort Kent Area Chamber member business.

What to Submit

To apply, please submit the following:

A completed scholarship application form, proof of acceptance or intent to enroll at UMFK, and a 250-word essay responding to this prompt: How has growing up in the Greater Fort Kent Chamber area influenced your career goals? In what ways have local small businesses played a role in your personal growth, work ethic, or future aspirations?

Scholarships will be awarded based on the quality and thoughtfulness of the essay, demonstrated connection to the Greater Fort Kent area, and alignment with the Chamber’s mission of supporting local business and community growth.
